Anymore, good-thinking-times aren't just anytime, but seem to be more in the morning. On our way back from "The Spot" I was thinking about Jesus' return and turned to the East. There was a small blue patch of sky that had broken free from the clouds.
I pondered the prophecy that the saved rejoice at His return, but for those who said "No!" every time opportunity and grace were extended...they will be slain by the brightness of Christ's second coming. "Why is that?" I wondered. One rejoices, another is slain.
Here are my thoughts: Throughout their lives the righteous have allowed and accepted more and more of the Holy Spirit into their lives and He has daily brought them closer and closer to Christ. His attributes of character are becoming theirs. They have become a reflection of their Savior.
The opposite is true of the wicked. Their character reflects the attributes of their chosen leader, the Devil. Therefore, the wicked stand totally alone and unprotected from the righteous character of Jesus Christ. It is the Goodness of Jesus that destroys the Evil of the wicked.
The brilliant white light of the Righteousness of Christ is a purifying light. That which kills the viral seeds of sin in the wicked is reflected in the saved because they have invited and allowed that light to shine in their lives.
I think I understand this text more clearly now. Thank you Lord.
"And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming." [2nd Thessalonians 2:8]
