Moses had died and Joshua, his assistant has assumed leadership of the children of Israel. The Lord (Jesus) is leading them out of the desert and into the Promised Land, just as this same Christ is leading us (spiritual Israel) into the heavenly Promised Land. Speaking to Joshua, He says: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
To try to add to these words would only take away.
